Abstract

Too many young women believe that if they didn’t study computer science, tech isn’t for them.

This talk challenges that belief through the lens of my personal journey from studying development studies to becoming a software developer . I’ll share how I navigated the tech world without a traditional background, the doubts and barriers I faced, and what helped me succeed including Python ’ s beginner friendly ecosystem and supportive communities. This talk isn’t just for aspiring developers, but also for educators, allies, and community organizers looking to make tech more inclusive. Attendees will walk away with practical insights and strategies to help women and girls especially those from non STEM fields discover that coding can be for them, too.
